This beautiful campground is that the major hub of Capitol Reef National Park. With several attractions to understand more about right all around the campground including, hiking trails, the scenic loop, Visitor’s center, the historic Gifford Homestead Store & Museum, fruit orchards, and many old structures from once the area was inhabited by early Mormon settlers. We loved the drive straight into the campground coming from the West, along with our drive out in the direction of the east. The campground is first come, first served, and during our travels inside the busy summer season, all campers managed to obtain a site, however sites were limited in early evening. The campground sits inside a  beautiful valley crammed with fruit orchards and non-producing trees, surrounded from the red sandstone cliffs of Capitol Reef. There will be two loops, A and B. Most sites are shady and grassy, and all sites offer spectacular views, whether it is of horses grazing a field, sandstone cliffs, the old homestead, fruit orchards, or just a little of each and every. Pads and interior roads are paved, most are pretty level and spacious. Picnic tables are provided. There are no hookups, with summer temperatures averaging inside the high nineties, spring and early fall are the very best times to visit the park if cooler temperatures are your desire. The Visitor’s Center is lower than a mile far from camp and can also be easily accessed from the biking / hiking trail or the most road. The Gifford Homestead is adjacent towards the campground (open summers ). Make sure to stop in and find out a glimpse of history inside the small museum and revel in a slice of fresh pie or scoop of homemade ice cream, particularly, huckleberry. Through the night, benefit from the star studded skies during this International Dark Sky Park.
