Two campgrounds can be found ; an inferior, 18 site campground inside the Dardanelle area, and also a larger campgrounds inside the Russellville area offering just over 60 sites. Judging by this park alone, the Arkansas State Park system is practicing a fine job by giving clean, beautiful
campgrounds with plenty of amenities and open spaces for guests to enjoy.
We stayed inside the larger Russellville area camp and enjoyed the C Loop to its paved pads, electric and water hookups, proximity towards the beach and Visitor’s Center, and also the beautiful, spacious lakeside campsites. A personal marina is adjacent towards the loop so we enjoyed watching boats travel in and out to the day. All campsites in both parks offer paved pads, hookups picnic tables, fire rings and also a beautiful scenic setting. Loop A offers many sites with spectacular lake views also, but sites aren‘t as private and also have even more of a RV park feel for them. Loop D is placed further coming from the lakeshore and provides limited peek-a-boo vistas from the lake. Sites and roads here were paved, but need maintenance and were not as pristine as Loop A and C.
The Visitor’s Center is really a must see with a brief video outlining the history and wonders from the park. Additionally, a little gift shop, helpful staff, a viewing deck from the lake, kayak rentals, slightly tank, and a few spectacular interactive exhibits await the visitor. This state park also hosts many geocaches that may be found inside the park. A playground, beach, fishing tournament weigh in center, cabin rentals and multiple picnic sites can be found.
