We pulled into this campground following a beautiful drive through West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Lush and abound with trees, this park is fairly enormous and offers a playground of amenities for campers to enjoy. With six different campground loops, each loop offers slightly different accommodations in regards to pets, check carefully while you continue to keep your site specific reservation.

Sites here vary ; some offer 50 amp electricity, others are dry camping. Some allow pets, others don‘t. Site pads are paved in Loops A, B, E, and F. Gravel pads or just simply grass parking is what you will see in Loops C and D. All sites vary long from 20 feet to 78 feet, so an enormous rig certainly will fit here. Interior roads are paved inside the A, B, E, and F loops, and rough and unpaved inside the C and D loops. All sites are wooded, shady, and spacious. We once again were thrilled to locate this type of gem of the park and realized,
again, how dilapidated our home state of California parks could be. Within camp you will see showers, an amphitheater and chapel, a playground, and hiking trails. Some hiking trails lead one to beautiful falls. Others lead one to Raccoon Lake, a beautiful manufactured lake that‘s surrounded by trees. We hiked for this lake, however if you‘d rather drive, large parking lots can be found for campers and day use visitors. We‘re stunned from the lake, its beauty, and also the fun activities to enjoy ! We felt almost like we‘d stumbled upon the resort Baby and her family stay at in Dirty Dancing ; a treat for those Californians. In the lake you may enjoy the beach, get lunch or hand-dipped ice cream in the burger shack, or benefit from the lake itself via swimming, fishing, or watercraft rentals. A privatized kiosk offers reasonable rentals of paddle boat style bikes, motorized boats, canoes, and kayaks. We enjoyed pedaling our way all around the lake upon the water bikes. Also in the lake’s edge you will see many picnic areas, a playground, and a big, grassy playfield. Hunting during season in permitted areas is likewise allowed. This was a pleasant and fun stop along our way, just an hour or so or so from Pittsburgh.
