This large, oceanside state park offers well over 200 sites to select from ! With Pacific Ocean access, this campground is placed about 1 / 4 of the mile inland. A nicely paved bike / walking trails allow easy admittance to a beautiful beach. We dubbed this campground Mosquito Alley and although it offers a spectacular beach for sand and surf play, the campground sits adjacent to some swampy area that breeds mosquitoes. Consequently, we Couldn‘t sit outside and revel in camp, despite our smoky fire and citronella torches.

Sites are fairly close together and therefore are strikingly much like one another, regardless of which loop you choose to camp in. Sites in loops A through F offer paved pads, electric hookups, picnic tables and fire pits. Sites listed below are grassy with partial shade from low coastal trees. Loops H and I offer primitive sites and dirt pads and roads. Yurts can also be found for nightly rentals. The campground offers restrooms, showers, playgrounds, day use area and a hospitality center.
When the mosquitoes get for you, the quaint, mosquito-free town of Newport is just over a mile North via the campground’s bike path. Here you will see a harbor, an the ORegaon Coast Aquarium, a science center, shops and our favorite, Rogue Brewery. Both evenings we found ourselves in the brewery to not just find out about the brewing process on the brewery tour, but to wash away the woes of Mosquito Alley.
